The Chepang Hill Trail Trek
Overview
The Chepang Hill Trail Trek is a gentle trekking route in central Nepal that offers a unique opportunity to explore the lifestyle and culture of the indigenous Chepang people. This trail is less commercialized than the popular Annapurna or Everest regions, making it ideal for travelers seeking an authentic and peaceful trekking experience. The trek features rolling hills, lush forests, terraced fields, and remote villages, blending natural scenery with rich cultural interactions. Siraichuli (1,945 m), one of the highest hills of Mahabharat range, offers spectacular views of the mountains and magnificent sunrise and sunset views. The view includes a wide range of Himalayan peaks such as Rolwaling, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Gorkha Himal, Peak 29, Himalchuli, Manaslu, Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, and the Royal Chitwan National Park in the Terai. The Chitwan Chepang Hill Trail begins at Hugdi Khola in Dhading district about 80 kms from Kathmandu, and ends in Shaktikhor
After completing the Chepang Hill Trail Trek, adventurers can extend their exploration with a thrilling Chitwan Jungle Safari. Located nearby, Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s premier wildlife reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its rich biodiversity including Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, elephants, and various bird species. A safari here offers an exciting contrast to the tranquil hill trek, immersing visitors in the vibrant jungle ecosystem through jeep safaris, canoe rides, and nature walks, making it a perfect complement for nature lovers seeking both mountainous serenity and tropical wilderness.
