There are the opening words of Thomas Kelly and Carol Dunham’s beautiful paean to this magical corner of far north western Nepal, The Hidden Himalaya. This marvelous book, sadly no longer in print, inspired my first trek there and after six visits Humla remains a firm but ecoteric favourite. I have walked the route described below there timed and never passed a single other trekker.
