Makalu Base Camp Trek
Overview
Located in the northeast region of Nepal with an elevation of 8463m mount Makalu is the fifth-highest peak in the world. Trekking in Makalu ,every bit as rewarding as the Popular Khumbu valley to the west , the Barun valley approach to Makalu base camp is one of Nepal’s many unsung treasures. Furnace-like heat in Arun valley, steep trails the possibility of snowfall on the shipton pass at any time and the quality and variety of the mountain scenery make this a serious but immensely rewarding outing. The views from the Shipton pass 3500m and from above Makalu base camp in the southwest spur of Makalu itself are unsurpassed anywhere in the Himalaya.
