Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek
Overview
This is the classic expedition approach to Khumbu and it is scenically magnificent and tough hike. The major valleys draining the highlands in this area run north-south, and the trail cuts across the grain of the land from west to east before finally turning north into the Dudh Khosi valley at Jubing. This classic route offering a more traditional and less crowded approach compared to the popular Lukla to EBC TREK. This is the same route that Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay used in their first successful Everest summit in 1953.There are many lung busting ascents and knee-crunching descents, and by the time you reach Namche Bazaar you will already have more than climbed Everest in terms of the total amount of climbing done.
